An Evening of Gourds
In this free newsletter we share our plans for gourd season including our syllabus, past and upcoming events, and a few recipes for a gourd-filled menu.
Our last paid newsletter went out for free so you already know that Gourd season is here! We’re feeling like pumpkin spice lattes, pies, gratins and more, you can read our Gourd Syllabus to find some gourd-related cooking inspiration and recipes.
We structured our syllabus as the menu from our first Gourd event at Soho House in London. Soho House members were invited to join us for an evening eating and discussing gourds.
The event also had a live illustration that hit on some of the topics we discussed and ideas shared by attendees.
We will also be having a second Gourd event at e5 Bakehouse (our first and last of the year!) on Monday December 4. It will be an evening of storytelling and learning to grow pumpkins - keep an eye out on our socials for more information about tickets and time.
What we ate and drank:
It’s mushroom season and I’ve been making this Nigel Slater recipe for courgettes and mushrooms to have in sandwiches, frittatas and as a pasta sauce. I also had a really spectacular hen of the woods tartine at Planque this week. - CRC
The Stand-out London restaurant of the season (the year?) is definitely Chishuru. The new Hainan House in Angel is delicious! Chloe and I had a really lovely meal at Kolae in London Bridge, keen to go back to eat the whole menu. I was in Berlin and walked into the bar Wax On just as they had a power cut - I need to go back to Berlin, for this bar! - ASM
