Feelin’ rotten, but in a good way
Enjoy a round up of rot season and a look at what is to come for RICE!
Rot season’s end has come (for now) and we’re gearing up for Rice! This newsletter is a round up of all the things we’ve published this season!
We would also like to share that Anna has a brand spanking new podcast that we are sure will be a hit with Sourced fans! Listen to Anna explore the history, nostalgia and politics of pepper on Taste of Place produced by Whetstone Radio!
Rot season has been a joy to put together and maybe one day it will crop up again, but for now here is an overview of the pieces we’ve published this season!
The Art, Craft and (Gendered) Labour of Achaar - Sohel Sarkar
Root, Rot, and Riot: The Queerness of Compost - Koby Omansky
The Perfume of Rot - Nicola Harvey
Reclaiming Rot and the Art of Waste - Holly Regan
The Virtues of Fermentation - Jeanne Kessira
We rounded out Rot Season with a bang at our 2nd birthday celebration hosted by e5 Bakehouse. We were also joined by Kimchi and Radish who sold an amazing array of kimchis and the team from Sunny Jar Eco Hub who shared some advice for low-waste living and how to practice furoshiki! And we debuted our first printed zine sponsored by FoodWave and designed by Anh Tran (@kamipaper).
We’re hoping to pepper these zines around the world so keep an eye out, especially if you’re in London. Issues might also pop up in Paris and Los Angeles while Chloe does some travelling! The zine is a beaut and we couldn’t be happier with it!
Do you know somewhere we should share our zine? Email us at sourcedjourneys@gmail.com
That's all for now but we’ll see you soon with some news about Rice!
xx Chloe and Anna
