No fools just forests
One last article from Gourd season before we turn a new leaf and start our next season on Trees!
The last article of Gourd season is here from Mwinji Siame about how people and institutions in Africa can reclaim the narratives of artefacts stolen as a result of colonialism.
And while we’re sad to see the end of Gourd Season, we are very happy to introduce you all to our next season on Trees! We’re also accepting pitches for tree season until 20 April, 2024. You can read about Tree Season and the kind of pitches we’re looking for on our syllabus.
You may have also noticed that our website looks a little different! We were very lucky to have help from Ludovico D'Aietti of Ludographic Designs to make the website a little easier to navigate and we’re in love with the new look.
You’ll probably also notice that our social media profiles are getting a little bit of a facelift thanks to help from designer Natalia Ruhe and posting a bit more frequently with more pizzaz thanks to help from Rebecca Thimmesch (we, A+C, are just not that great at the socials...) Give us a follow if you don’t already and don’t be shy in the comments section.
What we ate and drank this month:
Chloe has been eating (too many) biscuits after recipe testing for her Vittles recipe column, you can follow her recipe to make your own or head over to Bake Street for brunch where Chloe is serving wild leek biscuits with a mushroom gravy.
Anna spend a Sunday morning at Suba Bakery with Louise from E5 Bakehouse eating delights! Including an incredible plantain mini loaf, with little plantain crips. She also had lunch Lyles - the first time in years - it has been really interesting watching a restaurant evolve over the years; best dish was a tema artichoke with bottarga and preserved lemons, and a umami bomb of razor clams, preserved tomatoes and marjoram - tomatoes can really pack a punch!
