Wel(l)come back
Sourced is waking up after a nice long nap. We have a lot to share about our seasons this year and what we have planned for external projects and in-person events!
While we may have been ‘resting’ from publishing (we did publish Rice at the centre of the table from Yasmin Kira last month) Anna and Chloe have been working behind the scenes to get Sourced 2023 ready to go. You can expect our paid newsletter to return next month!
We are super excited to announce that we’re working with Wellcome Collection Stories to publish a series of articles to coincide with the Wellcome Collection Milk exhibition!! We’ve spent this month commission five exciting writers, based around the world, to explore the topic of milk.
Milk exhibition is free and will be running until 10 September. If you find yourself in London we suggest you check the exhibit out.
In conjunction with this partnership we have chosen Milk as our second ingredient of 2023! We will be looking particularly at how milk has shaped cultural, political and environmental landscapes.
The Wellcome Collection Stories series will run across a week in July on their platform. Alongside these articles we are commissioning art-led pieces on Milk, to appear on our website.
If you wish to pitch a poem, photo series, artwork, video or audio piece please email us at sourcedjourneys@gmail.com. All pitches should include why you are the right person for this piece, and how your piece relates to milk and our food and drink systems (political/cultural/commercial).We will be selecting 3 pieces and will give priority to people who haven’t worked with us before. Submissions end May 31 and the fee is £100.
We will also be commissioning for our second 2023 season on Gourds until August 31. These submissions can be research or art driven. We are particularly interested in pieces related to climate change and farming, mythologies and how squashes and gourds are used in cuisines outside of Europe.
Stay tuned for upcoming newsletters detailing our Milk season syllabus and announcements about live events (save the date for June 12).
Xx
